# 📖 Glossary

***

| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| **Connection** | The link between your workspace and your WhatsApp number, established by scanning a QR code. |
| **QR linking** | The standard WhatsApp Web flow where you scan a QR with your phone to authorise another device. The same flow this module uses. |
| **Linked Devices** | The list inside WhatsApp on your phone showing every device using your account. You can revoke access here at any time. |
| **Gateway** | The bundled Node.js service that maintains the WhatsApp Web session on your server and bridges messages between WhatsApp and your inbox. |
| **Workspace / Tenant** | Your isolated area on the platform. Your chats and contacts are private to your workspace. |
| **Push name** | The display name a contact has chosen for themselves on WhatsApp. Falls back to their phone number if they haven't set one. |
| **Read receipt** | The blue double-tick. Only visible if the recipient hasn't disabled read receipts on their phone. |
| **Merge field** | A placeholder like `{{ first_name }}` in a message. The system replaces it with the recipient's actual data when sending. |
| **Canned reply** | A pre-saved message template you can drop into a chat with one click instead of typing it again. |
| **Voice note** | A WhatsApp voice message recorded directly in the browser composer. Distinct from an audio file attachment. |
| **vCard** | The standard contact-card file format. The module sends contact picks from your CRM as vCards. |
| **WebSocket** | The persistent browser connection that delivers incoming messages and status updates in real time without page refresh. |
| **Cloud API** | Meta's official paid WhatsApp Business API. **This module does not use it** — it uses the QR-based WhatsApp Web flow instead. |
| **Quality score** | An unpublished per-number rating WhatsApp uses internally to decide how aggressively to throttle a number. The send throttle exists to protect this score. |
| **Delete-for-everyone** | WhatsApp's recall feature, available only on your own messages and only within ~2 days of sending. |
